AIS Kemang celebrated NAIDOC (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) day with a special NAIDOC assembly which not only taught our students more about the Aboriginal culture in Australia but also really emphasised the core concepts of respect, harmony and cultural understanding.
NAIDOC Week is held in the first full week of July. It is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements and is an opportunity to recognise the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society.
The assembly included an entertaining performance by the Year 5 students and it was a beautiful experience to witness the Aboriginal live art done by our students throughout the assembly.
The day was made extra special by the children who dressed in red, black and yellow to signify the colours of the Aboriginal flag.
