On 23rd. November our secondary school celebrated the second annual Arts Festival. We were once again treated to exceptional student work in Visual Arts, Media, Film and of course Music. The work showcased through this event demonstrates our commitment to fostering the creativity of our students. To quote noted educator, author and TED Talk guru Sir Ken Robinson:
“The arts aren’t just important because they improve math scores. They’re important because they speak to parts of children’s being which are otherwise untouched.“ - Sir Ken Robinson, Professor Emeritus of Arts Education, University of Warwick, UK.
Through the arts, our students are given wonderful opportunities to explore their talents and interests in entirely different ways to those often found in other areas of the curriculum. In so doing, they also develop important 21st Century skills such as organisation, creativity, problem solving, perseverance, reflection and collaboration.
